Dominica citizenship changes decision

On July 19, British Foreign Secretary Soella Braverman issued a statement indicating that visas would be imposed on citizens of Dominica and Vanuatu due to the entry of unwanted persons into Britain through these two countries.

Dominican passport holders who were in Britain during the decision will not be affected, but after leaving Britain they must apply for a visa if they wish to re-enter.

She confirmed that people who have already booked travel tickets can still travel to Britain without a visa, but the deadline for them is August 16, 2023.

Soila added that the decision of Dominica citizenship changes does not reflect the level of relations between the two countries and should not be taken seriously, but only for security purposes and under monitoring & review for the sake of the British national interest.

We expect that the UK soon add more countries to this list as part of its eTA plan, but it is not known which countries will be added or when.

Not many know that Dominica left the British Commonwealth for the purpose of creating its own regime more independently and stronger and organizing it in a more flexible way. Dominica’s response to Dominica citizenship changes

President of Dominica Roosevelt Skerritt spoke, in an address to its nation two days after the news that the British decision was unfortunate and sad, but its impermanent. Dominica is trying hard to cancel the visa with Britain again.

The president explained that the security measures provided by Dominica are a multi-level check, and it is managed by a high-level agency based in Britain and America.

He said that the new Dominica citizenship changes will be better and more organized so that these decisions will not be repeated, and he reiterated that it will be one of the best programs in the world. He added that the prospective measure not only meets international standards, but also alleviates any security concerns.

He indicated that the opinion of a particular European country would be taken to conduct a comprehensive review of our program and then proceed with the advice they would provide. He added that Britain itself and the United States will participate in the review, just like the European countries involved in this procedure.

Although it took a step back, Dominica has taken 10 steps forward recently by boosting its passports, security, and investment. Proof of this is the visa lift in the past three years with Uzbekistan, Russia, Ukraine, South Africa, UAE and China.

The purpose of this process and decision is to enhance the security system along the lines of the successful Canadian and US Visa Program (ESTA) strategy. In 2017, Canada suspended the visa waiver program with the countries of the Caribbean Union in two phases, but recently reversed its decision and reinstated visa waivers from 13 countries, including St. Kitts and Nevis.
